Animation is a struggle for me but I love to learn, so in my final year, I had a course where we got to choose our own project to make. I had to go with animation. The result was a 10-second-long animation of my life from elementary school to university.
I did a lot of planning and with my family's help sorted through school photos to figure out the most notable years in my life so far. I also practiced illustration and different art styles to find one that suited both me as a person and as an artist. I am often very ambitious and find myself with elaborate plans but not enough time, which was the case here, so unfortunately most of my plans had to be scrapped and/or simplified.
After I hand-animated every frame on paper I then cleaned it up and added colour in Photoshop. 110 frames total.
It's got its flaws but I could see all the progress I'd made since my first animation attempts in my first year. It's given me hope of working more with animation in the future.
